Obituary for David G. Oberholtzer

Ending his battle with cancer, David G. Oberholtzer went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2019. He was surrounded by his family at his home in Homerville, Ohio.
David was born Dec. 27, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Medina High School in1967 and the College of Wooster in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in education. David taught physical education and health at Black River High School, where he later became the Athletic Director. He also taught math at Keystone High School and was Athletic Director at Buckeye High School. He coached cross country, wrestling, track and field and baseball, was a member of the Black River and Medina County Boards of Education and also a past Medina County Fair Board Director. David was a member of the Black River Ruritan Club, on the Homer Township Zoning Appeals Board and active in the Lafayette United Methodist Church where he served as past chair of the Administrative Council and Finance Committees.
David also previously served on the LMRE People to People Fund Board, and was a member of Medina County Farm Bureau as well as a member of several dairy cattle and draft horse associations. He enjoyed farming and was co-owner of Homerville Holstein Farms. He also enjoyed participating in several mission trips.
David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pam (Fenstermaker), 3 daughters: Heidi (Kodicovic), Holly (Oberholtzer) and Lori (Vandeventer), 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Eva Kodicovic and his brother John Oberholtzer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Winifred Oberholtzer.
At David’s request, no funeral service will be held. The family will join in a private Celebration of Life. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette United Methodist Church, 6201 Lafayette Rd. Medina 44256.
