Obituary for Lovina (Skip) May Welsh

Lovina “Skip” May Welsh, 87 of Westfield Center, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019, after many decades of diabetes and heart disease.
She was born May 4, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Mae (Hayward) Zehner, and is descended from a Zehner who emigrated from Germany in the 1700’s whose family came to Ashland County. One was an American Revolutionary War veteran who is buried in Mifflin, Ohio.
Lovina was a 1950 graduate of Ashland High School. She attended Ohio University, and graduated from Ashland University with a BS in Education. She spent her entire teaching career in elementary education with the Cloverleaf School District in the Lodi and Westfield Center schools. She was an avid golfer, bridge player with the Cloverleaf Women’s Club, loved her cats, the Christmas season and craft shows.
She was a Cleveland Indians fan, and once got Bob Feller’s autograph while in line at the airport. She especially enjoyed travel to those places with writers discussed in her school classes, such as author Beatrice Potter in the Lake District, England. She belonged to the honorary teaching society, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Seville.
